“The Diary Of Anne Frank,” posthumously published, has made her a symbol of all Jews killed in World War II. The first printed edition came out in Dutch in 1947. Shot on July 22, 1941, almost a year before the Frank family went into hiding, the film already has had tremendous international impact since hitting YouTube on Wednesday. It captures the wedding day of the neighbor girl who “lived on the second floor at Merwedeplein 39. Frank, who had turned 12 the month before, is clearly visible leaning out of her window.
“It is the only time Anne Frank has ever been captured on film,” says the Amsterdam-based museum.
